The story begins with a boy named Kyle in New York City who is chatting online with other fairytale characters who have their own problems. While chatting Kyle tells them the story of how he became a beast.
Kyle used to be the most popular guy in school and the girls wanted him and all the guys wanted to be him. When one day he meets a girl named Kendra who hates how the school is run by popularity. Kyle decides to play a cruel prank on her by asking her to a dance when he already had a date. She comes and waits for Kyle but when she finally sees him, he and his date mock her. Later that same evening he comes home and finds Kendra there. But she is no longer the girl he saw at school because she had transformed into a beautiful witch. She then transformed him into his "truer self." or a beast.
The witch gives him two years to find true love, he must love her and she must love him. A year and a half later a girl named Lindy is forced to live with him. Will he find true love?
Review
I really like this book because it was written from the Beast's perspective. I enjoyed reading about how he was able to change his attitude towards life and the people around him. This book was cute and fun to read. As I read I found that I could make several connections with the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast. I would recommend this book to those of you who enjoy fairytale fiction, stories from a guys point of view, and people who turn their lives around.

FYI a movie based on this book is supposed to come out in July 2010. We'll have to see how closely they follow the book :)
